Mermaids 2: Saturdays March 8 to April 26 (not 3/29)
Belly Dance Basics & Choreography
$45 (for 7 weeks)
New Choreography Every Class, plus the opportunity to learn other dances in the Mermaid's repertoire (listed below; keep on scrolling down).
Class provides an excellent introduction to dance concepts: types of space/use of space, tempo/time, rhythm, movement/stillness, shape/form, and more. Also Dance Games, Fun Drills & Exercises... Opportunity to be a leader, to follow someone else's lead, to create freely and within guidelines. The girls become friends, make up their own dance names, and get to wear pretty sparkly costumes. They also learn cultural context, Oriental dance styles, rhythms, props, and more.
Jillanna's teaching style is supportive, fun, and creative.

Girls in Jillanna's classes may join the Mermaids belly dance troupe and perform at public events and haflas. The Mermaids' Repertoire (Choreography) currently includes: Mermaid Veil Dance ("Splash Dance"), Veils-n-Shells Mermaid Dance, Turkish Tambourine Dance, Sea Horse Drum Solo (with tambourine), Raks Assaya (Cane Dance), and Tribal Fusion Pharoanic.
There is no pressure to perform!

Jillanna also offers Private & Semi-private lessons, Parties, and Camps. As mother of two girls (ages 5 and 13) and an impassioned, experienced teacher, she especially enjoys teaching children to belly dance. Her fun teaching style is tailored to the ages of the girls in her classes, which are limited to six students at a time to facilitate learning. The games, toys, and coloring pictures included in the classes add to the joy and excitement of each meeting.
Girls ages 7 to 13 may attend any beginner basics classes for only $45. See Schedule of all classes.
